Workshop session #1

The entire team commandeered Simrun’s house for the afternoon in order to mess around with funky-looking electronic components and consume copious amounts of chocolate . Holy ****! As I write, we have just managed to focus and take a picture with our camera by using nothing but a length of wire shorting two contacts! In the meantime, we wired up the GPS unit to a breadboard (a setup with all the structural integrity of the Dead Sea scrolls). After much uneasy waiting and cursing, the GPS found a signal and transmitted its exact position (verified using Google Maps). It seems that now we can also zoom, focus independantly and turn on/off the camera – all by shorting different contacts. Great progress has been made on ALIEN-1, check back soon for more details!
