Alas! This morning I was rudely awakened by my brother walking into my room with two big packages – held together with rubber bands. Shaking off sleep, I rolled out of bed and opened them to a great surprise: Energizer had not sent 24 batteries as we had requested! Instead, we had 24 packs of 4 = 96 batteries! These aren’t any ordinary alkalines either: Energizer have sent their ‘Ultimate Lithium’ batteries (L91 without the marketing speak). Using lithium iron disulfide, they provide a massive boost over ordinary alkalines, whilst still able to be used as a drop-in replacement for them. It gets even better: these have a rated operating temperature down to -40°C, and a great power to weight ratio. In short, Energizer have done us a massive favour by providing the perfect batteries for many balloon projects to come – cheers!
